  • Capturing Space in Time: New Time Lapse Service

Capturing Space in Time: New Time Lapse Service

Eye Revolution are delighted to announce the launch of a new service which builds on how the virtual tours can display a space – time lapse movies.

The virtual tours allow potential customers to thoroughly explore your space, imagining themselves visiting it, using it and enjoying it. The time lapse service builds on this by giving potential customers the opportunity to see your space in use, and appreciate the full experience.

As you’d expect from Eye Revolution, our time lapse service focuses on quality. So much of the time lapse you see is simply a case of installing a camera, letting it run and speeding it up. This approach isn’t something which we feel would add value for our clients, so each Eye Revolution time lapse project is directed, filmed and edited by professional directors, cameramen and editors to ensure that the final movie truly engages the viewer.

The time lapse video above shows ‘a day in the life’ of the events space at the Royal Courts of Justice in London. Around 24 hours footage showing the space being prepared ready for an event, through to the guests arriving and enjoying their evening, to the packing up and clearing of the space has been condensed into just under 3 minutes.

Click the link to see more information about our time lapse photography service.

  • The Royal Opera House

    The Royal Opera House

We’re sorry – our Royal Opera House virtual tour is no longer available for public view. While you’re here, why not take a look at some of our other virtual tours? We’ve created virtual tours of galleries, museums, Royal palaces, as well as lots of virtual tours around London and the City of London generally.

    From the archive…

Covent Garden’s world-famous Royal Opera House dates from 1858, though this was the third theatre on this site – the first having been constructed in 1732 and called the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden. Both the previous theatres were destroyed by fire – a common hazard for London’s theatres in the days before electricity. The building was extensively remodelled in 1990, though the 1858 facade, foyer and auditorium remain, the latter being Grade I listed.

The Balconies Restaurant is sited within the Floral Hall – a magnificent Victorian glass and iron structure once part of Covent Garden market, but incorporated into the Royal Opera House during the 1990’s rebuild project. Please click the thumbnail images below to view the Royal Opera House virtual tours.

  • Routemaster Bus

    Routemaster Bus

One of London’s most famous sights, Routemaster Buses were introduced in 1956 and were London’s workhorses until they were at last retired in 2005 (though 16 still run on 2 central London ‘heritage routes’). They were loved by passengers for the ease with which they could hop on and off the open back. Paying was speedy too, as passengers paid the conductor, not the driver. This Routemaster bus is owned by a specialist bus company, who hire it out for tours and events, where it is always a much-enjoyed part of the proceedings. Please click the thumbnails below to view both the top deck and bottom deck Routemaster bus virtual tours.

  • Miles M.12 Mohawk, RAF Museum

    Miles M.12 Mohawk, RAF Museum

Please note – this is an older aircraft photography example, and is not representative of the 360 virtual tours we produce today. However, we’ve chosen to keep this on our site as visitors have indicated they still enjoy exploring this tour and/or find it a useful learning resource.

    The RAF Museum

The Royal Air Force (RAF) Museum is based in Hendon, and tells the story of military aircraft and personnel. The museum has occupied its site in London since 1972. During that time it has been a centre of learning and discovery for children and adults alike. The collection includes aircraft from the earliest days of airborne warfare; taking visitors on a journey to modern day military aeroplanes. Read on to find out more about how aircraft photography virtual tours have brought the Miles M.12 Mohawk to life for a global audience.

The Story of the Miles M.12 Mohawk

The Miles M.12 Mohawk is a two seater aeroplane commissioned by American aviator Charles Lindbergh in 1936. Lindbergh was the first made the first nonstop flight from New York to Paris. This was an incredible feat that required him to fly entirely alone for over 33 hours. The Lindberghs fled to Europe in the light of press interest concerning the infamous case of their kidnapped and murdered son. They used the aircraft to travel extensively around Europe, returning to the States when war broke out. In 1941, the RAF took the aircraft into service as a communications aircraft.

In 1944, the Mohawk was put into storage at RAF Kemble, and later sold. It last flew in 1950 when it was abandoned in Spain after its owners had to force landing. In the 1970s it was discovered languishing in a junkyard near Seville and taken to the USA by a curator at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum. He later decided to donate it to the RAF Musem and it finally arrived back home over half a century later.

    Aircraft Photography in 360

Whilst still images have a place in showing the inside of a plane; 360 aircraft photography offers something more. Users can explore in full 360 degrees from the seat, putting themselves right in the cockpit. They have the ability to zoom in to look at the details which interest them.

A shoot in a confined space like this is always a challenge, ensuring all details are focussed and sharp. The plane was shot in situ, with the sky being retouched in back in our studio. This gives the user the feeling of being in the plane in flight, a nice touch!

This aircraft photography virtual tour was commissioned by the RAF Museum. You can view more examples of commercial aircraft and private jets in our portfolio.

  • AEROPLANE VIRTUAL TOURS: The Percival Mew Gull

AEROPLANE VIRTUAL TOURS: The Percival Mew Gull

Please note – this is one of our much older aeroplane virtual tours, and is not representative of the 360 virtual tours we produce today. However, we’ve chosen to keep this on our site as visitors have indicated they still enjoy exploring this tour and/or find it a useful learning resource.

    The Percival Mew Gull

The Percival Mew Gull was a 1930’s British-made racing aircraft which set many records (one of which stands to this day).

How virtual tours can help museums with accessibility

The RAF Museum were keen to show their visitors the inside of the aeroplane, but as the aircraft was to be suspended from the ceiling this was simply not possible ‘in person’. Thus they commissioned us to shoot this virtual tour. The plan was for it to play in a kiosk below the plane, so that visitors could explore all around the aircraft in high resolution. We also retouched in a sky so it appeared as if the plane was in flight, giving visitors a more exciting experience.

    Other aeroplane virtual tours

This aeroplane virtual tour was commissioned by the RAF Museum. You can view more many more up-to-date examples of commercial aircraft and private jets in our portfolio.

  • Guildhall, City of London

    Guildhall, City of London

The Guildhall is the administrative and ceremonial centre of the City of London. The building itself has parts dating from 1411. It is sited on the foundations of a Roman amphitheatre. The London Roman Amphitheatre was built in 70AD and only discovered in 1988. It is now a scheduled monument displayed in situ in the basement of the Guildhall Art Gallery (which is seen in the virtual tour to the right of the Guildhall itself, with its gothic facade).

Guildhall has a rich history, with trials held within its halls for Thomas Cranmer (the protestant reformer and martyr). Lady Jane Grey, who Cranmer had helped install on the throne for just nine days, was also tried here.

The Guildhall building survived the Great Fire of London in 1666 and a Luftwaffe raid in 1940. It has been restored over the years, and still forms the administrative headquarters of the City of London. It is also now used as a venue for lavish banquets and unforgettable events.

    St Lawrence Jewry

The church of St Lawrence Jewry opposite the Guildhall was yet another of London’s great buildings destroyed in the Great Fire of London. The church was redesigned by Sir Christopher Wren and rebuilt in the 1670s. It was restored again after WWII, after suffering extensive damage in the Blitz. It is the official church of the Lord Mayor of London. If you’d like to explore another Wren church in details, take a peek at our extensive virtual tour of St Magnus the Martyr, also in the City of London.

    The Guildhall Art Gallery

The Guildhall art gallery was built in 1885, but, like the Guildhall and St Lawrence Jewry, was a victim of the second world war, and did not survive the Luftwaffe’s Blitz. It was rebuilt in 1999 and houses a collection of over 4000 works of art. It is open to the general public.

This Guildhall City of London virtual tour shows the view across Guildhall Yard towards the Guildhall with St Lawrence Jewry on Gresham Street visible to the left.
